THE Plastic Free Camelford group is urging people across the Post area to challenge themselves this summer, by cutting down on their plastic use.
This July sees the plastic free challenge come into force — and Plastic Free Camelford are voicing the message loud and clear by setting their own 14-day challenge.
The group has set 14 challenges over 14 days, for people to carry out whenever they feel during the summer. People taking part are encouraged to participate in a plastic free challenge each day for 14 days, and post photos linked to the challenges on social media using the hashtags #PlasticFreeFor14, #PlasticFreeCamelford and #SurfersAgainstSewage.
The 14 challenges include a litter pick in the street, refuse a straw, take a refillable bottle with you, do a #minibeachclean, make a reusable Morsbag, litter pick your garden, take your own cutlery or make a cutlery wrap, design a plastic free poster and share, reuse a plastic item, visit a local farm shop, cook plastic free, encourage someone you know to go plastic free, take a photo of home recycling and unplastic your lunch box.
A spokesperson from Plastic Free Camelford said: “We hope that our 14-day challenge will get all of the family involved in reducing the amount of single use plastic they use.
“We also hope it will promote the Plastic Free Camelford cause by encouraging people to share their progress to our Facebook page and spread awareness using our hashtags, #PlasticFreeCamelford and #PlasticFreeFor14.”

At the recent meeting of Camelford Town Council, deputy mayor Claire Hewlett challenged her fellow councillors and members of the public in attendence to join in with the group’s summer challenge to reduce their single use plastic use.
