AROUND 15 bags of litter were collected from the Camelford area on Sunday, March 17 as Plastic Free Camelford attempted to tidy up their town.

Volunteers, young and old, braved the elements and went ahead with the Plastic Free Camelford litter pick on March 17, despite showers of rain, hail and blustery conditions thrown into the mix.

Lauren Rathbone, town councillor and an organiser of the litter pick, said: “It was touch and go up until about 9.30am with all the hail we had, but we went for it and I’m so glad we did.”

There were approximately 15 volunteers who went around the town for up to an hour-and-a-half. Some went in their cars and did a bit outside of Camelford, around the lay-by towards Colman’s Cross, and some went to the airfield at Davidstow — a location that the team would like to focus on in the near future.

Cllr Rathbone added: “All in all, we collected around 15 bin bags of rubbish and the guys who went outside the town collected a trailer-full!”
