A GROUP of some 25 people, local and visitors, gathered together to witness the unveiling of a plaque in memory of the Reverend Samuel Pollard in Camelford recently.
The Rev Pollard was born in Chapel Cottage, Victoria Road, on April 20, 1864. He went on to become a Methodist Missionary to China where he was known by the Chinese as Bo Geli.
He converted many people to Christianity and created a Miao script that is still in use today.
At 3pm on November 15, under a dark rain threatening sky, the assembled gathering was greeted by the Rev Stephen Caddick, Superintendent of the Camelford and Week St Mary Circuit.
