AN URGENT appeal for community support has been made after Summerleaze Beach, Bude, failed mandatory guidelines for the Defra bathing water cleanliness checks.

Chairman of Friends of Bude Sea Pool, Paul Tilzey, said: "It is regrettable that it failed, and it makes it obvious that we need to work together to improve the quality of the water coming from the river."

In the recent Defra bathing water quality checks, Summerleaze was one of four beaches in Cornwall that failed the mandatory and guideline compliance when checking for ecoli and intestinal enterocci.
