CORNWALL Council will be staging a public exhibition in Bude, giving local people the chance to view detailed plans on options and proposals for new residents’ parking schemes and yellow lining.
Two further exhibitions will take place in Wadebridge and St Ives, as part of the series of three public exhibitions.
Earlier in November, the council launched a public engagement exercise on proposals for residents’ parking schemes in seven towns, and on street pay and display zones in four town centres.
Residents living in the streets in the seven towns where residents’ parking zones are being proposed, which include Bude, Falmouth and Penryn, Newquay, Penzance and Newlyn, St Ives, Truro and Wadebridge, have each been sent a letter alerting them to the schemes and asking for their views.
Letters have also been sent to residents in neighbouring streets, who might also be impacted if a scheme is being introduced nearby, as cars are displaced, and asking them how they feel too, including whether they would also like to be included in a larger scheme.
In four of the towns — Falmouth and Penryn, Newquay, Penzance and Truro — there are also separate proposals for new town centre on street pay and display schemes, and the council has been staging public exhibitions in each of these towns to provide more details about the proposals.
Public exhibitions will also be held about the residents’ parking schemes and yellow lining being proposed for Bude, Wadebridge and St Ives, to enable local residents to find out about the schemes and to give their views.
The exhibitions will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at Wadebridge Town Hall between 3pm and 7pm; Tuesday, November 29 at the St Ives Guildhall between 2pm and 7pm; and Thursday, December 1 at the Parkhouse Centre, Bude, between 2pm and 6.30pm.
Bert Biscoe, cabinet member for transport, said: “Residents and businesses have told us about their parking problems — the detailed schemes being proposed show how we’ve listened both to their underlying concerns and stress.
“Our aim is to meet everybody’s needs in a more effective and efficient way, and we now want to hear what people think.”
The proposed plans and a leaflet with more information about residents’ parking zones can be found at www.cornwall.gov.uk/parkingreview, as well as in libraries and one-stop shops.
