PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works. Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities. Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Cornwall Council in North Cornwall and Torridge District Council in Torridge.
Parish Hall seeks alcohol licence
THE operators of a parish hall in West Devon have applied to West Devon Borough Council seeking the granting of a premises licence.
Beaworthy Parish Hall is the subject of the application and it is seeking permission from the council for its proposed licensable activities.
A premises licence for alcohol is a legal authorisation issued by a local authority under the Licensing Act 2003, required for any fixed location — such as a pub, shop, or restaurant — to sell or supply alcohol. It covers the premises, not the individual, and usually remains valid indefinitely, provided the business adheres to conditions and pays annual fees.
The application concerns Beaworthy Parish Hall, Patchacott, Beaworthy, Devon, EX21 5AR.
It is seeking a licence for the supply of alcohol on the premises between Monday to Saturday during the times of 12pm to 11.59pm and on Sundays between 12pm and 10.30pm.
It is also seeking a New Year’s specific variation which would allow it to sell alcohol between 12pm on New Year’s Eve until 2am on New Year’s Day.
Representations related to the public notice must be submitted in writing to West Devon Borough Council by March 29, 2026.
