TOWN councillors have been advised to attend a meeting at Bowood Golf Course in Camelford in relation to a planning application at the site.

The golf course got in touch with Camelford Town Council to invite councillors to take a look at a potential planning application for the site, involving the construction of eight bungalows.

Cllr Rob Rotchell, deputy mayor and Cornwall Councillor for Camelford, said at their meeting on Thursday, December 5: “I went to see Nigel and Ross (owners) and they want to construct bungalows.

“It’s their land, they are bungalows so it won’t be intrusive. It’s about investment on the site. They want to make it a year-round site because it’s seasonal. They want to look at investing in this and invest in Bowood in terms of creating more facilities on that site and of course job opportunities.

“It’s not a bad thing, but I think people need to go and have a look.”

Mayor Claire Hewlett suggested the town clerk Esther Greig could get a range of dates for councillors to attend the site in small groups, where there will be sketch drawings to look at. Ms Greig suggested councillors attend the site in groups of two or three.
