PLANS to build five dwellings and a commercial unit on a former car park to a public house in Marhamchurch have been allowed at appeal.
The application to build five dwellings and a commercial unit, together with the demolition of both the car park stores and the rear corner lobby area of the Bullers Arms Hotel at its former car park, was refused in 2016 by Cornwall Council. An appeal hearing took place in January.
Following the appeal, overseen by inspector Jane Miles, on Friday, March 24 it was decided to grant planning permission.
In the planning inspectorate’s documents, relating to the Bullers Arms, it states: “As the car park area is in separate ownership from the Bullers Arms Hotel and is no longer physically or functionally part of the Bullers Arms Hotel premises, I further conclude that viability of the Bullers Arms Hotel is not a relevant planning consideration in assessing the development scheme for the appeal site.”
