A CHEQUE was presented at St-Giles-on-the-Heath Village Hall on Saturday, March 10 to youngster Matthew Wooldridge by the President of the Royal Pigeon Racing Association Devon and Cornwall District Donald Headon. The cheque, for £2,000 will help Matthew, himself a member of the Launceston District Pigeon Racing Club, become more involved in looking after his birds. Three years ago Matthew was involved in a car crash, which saw him spend two months in intensive care at Derriford Hospital, before continuing his recovery in Exeter. Twenty-one-year-old Matthew will need help for the rest of his life, and some of this money will go towards creating a path he can use to his pigeon loft. In a moving speech, he offered his sincere thanks and told everybody how much of a difference to his life the money will make. Matthew resides at Burdon Grange Care Home, Highampton.
