PHIL Vickery, who started his rugby career at Bude and also played for Launceston, has been selected as a member of the 2009 British & Irish Lions 37-man tour squad to South Africa in May for the 10-match, three-Test tour.

He now play for Wasps (London) and was a regular in the England starting XV this season after captaining the national team in the last World Cup. He is one of five props selected for the tour.

The Lions will be captained by Munster and Ireland second row Paul O'Connell.
