MANY pharmacies will be open over the Christmas and New Year period.
This is to ensure that those who need medication have accessibility to it. All pharmacies can provide and sell over-the-counter medicines to treat minor ailments.
Pharmacies providing a ‘Minor Ailment Service’ are able to provide treatment for the following common problems: Urinary tract infection, impetigo, bacterial conjunctivitis, oral thrush and nappy rash — a charge of £8.20 applies for patients who normally pay for prescriptions; free for exempt patients.

New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31 will be the same as the times on Thursday, December 24.
New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1: Boots, Bude open 10am to noon; Tesco, Launceston, open 3pm to 5pm; all others closed.
All except Lloyds Medical Centre, Hospital Road, Stratton, will be attending to minor ailments. They will all offer emergency supplies and Boots in Bude will provide specialist medicines.
