The results of Launceston Seniors' Winter League and Eclectic which finished last week were provided by Ray Williams, organiser and statistician of both events, and displayed on the notice board.
Ray has this year taken on the extra responsibility for the Eclectic, he was warmly praised for his efforts by the Captain. The overall winner of the Winter League will be decided in a play off sometime in the future, due to a greatly reduced field for the last round and to a tie in Division 1 there will be six contestants this year. This decision was not to the liking of some members and caused quite a debate, this is likely to continue in the future particularly if one of the runners-up takes the title.
You will notice that Christian name of "Peter" featuring again.

Division Two: Peter Holland 219, Tom Northam 217.

On Tuesday March 10, 75 Launceston Seniors played in a full handicap stableford competition in teams of 3 with 2 scores to count on each hole.
Unlike the previous week all players who had signed up did indeed turn up to play, what a difference the "weather" makes. It also makes a difference to the scores as against a par of 72 the prize winners were between 7 and 10 points better and 17 2's were achieved.
Players wishing to be included in competitions on their return from holiday were told by Captain Robin he would enter their names provided their requests came to him in writing, he has unfortunately forgotten verbal requests already received, he is not called the "Seniors" Captain for nothing.
Results: 1st, Terry Swords, Don Slee, Paul Roach 82; 2nd, Robin Johnson (Cpt), Dave Swanson, Ray Williams 81; 3rd, David Napier, Graham Pratt, Phil Baskerville 80; 4th, Clive Small, Brian Roberts, Steve Lawrence 79; 5th, Tim Johnson, Brian Ben-David, Graham Nevitte 79.
On Friday the 13th the Launceston Seniors were away to Carlyon Bay. No worries about the weather on this occasion and the match was played in pleasant dry conditions. The date lived up to its reputation and the Launceston team lost 4½ to 3½. Some one sided results occurred in both directions, none worse than that of Morley and Ken. Morley however won the wine on the NTP hole and was not too downhearted to tell the after dinner joke.
Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Brian Alford halved; Tim Johnson & Colin Butler lost 5&3; Mike Gee & Peter Jones (Sec) lost 3&2; Pat Johnston & Derek Ratcliffe won 7&5; Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) & Graham Chanter lost 2&1; Jim Mason & David Napier won 1up; Ken Rogers & Morley Brown lost 8&7; Dave Bundy & Don Slee won 1up.
