With the project starting on September 27, Bude and Beyond’s Dawn Robinson and Bude’s new heritage officer, Janine King, will be introducing some recorded local history interviews, which will then be kept by the Bude Heritage Centre archives for future use and research.
The first session will take place on September 27 from 12.30pm until 3.30pm in the Reading Room at The Castle, Bude. Dawn and Janine ask that anyone who wishes to come along and be interviewed to let them know beforehand, but it is possible to just drop by.
Topics such as the memories of the railway and Bude Lifeboat, the lives of women in Bude, wartime life in the town, life in Stratton and schools in Bude could be of interest to discuss at the sessions.
Dawn said: “Tell us things about Bude which are probably not on paper, which you feel are an important part of the town’s heritage. The interviews can be brief. We don’t need a full life story, just a focus on a particular area so we can build up some information. It is wonderful to see the Heritage Centre being increasingly used as a local resource, which we hope will also help to draw more people in to see the excellent exhibitions, to view the artwork and, indeed, to use the café.”
