I have to say that I am very honoured to write this report of thanks to so many people who supported the idea that Pembroke Town Walls Trust hold a fundraising event this summer (writes Daphne Bush).
The most important need was an appropriate venue. The unbelievable suggestion from Pembroke Castle manager, Jon Williams, together with Victoria Bruce, chair of the board of trustees and Trustee members, offering our very own Pembroke Castle as a possibility, was quite overwhelming. We accepted without hesitation.
The next step was to ensure that our event was an asset to the castle and an addition to all the very successful events already established there. I do think that we managed that.
The sum raised on Saturday last was in excess of £900.
The evening was quite chilly, but dry, guests attending deserve a huge thank you for their loyal support of the Trust event making this figure possible. If the New Zealand family attending, who saw the event on the website read this, a huge thank you to you too.
Thank you to Pembroke Castle, Jon, Victoria and the trustees. Gemma, the castle cafe manager, Jason Kenniford, castle caretaker, Suzie and Linda, in the castle shop.
Thank you also to our sponsors - Tan y Castle Foods, Upton Farm Foods, Pembroke Power Station, Western Power, Chris Lee, Marketing, Monddi and the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Observer.
There was much to intrigue and entertain guests thanks to Paul Spencer, Creative Design, sculpture, Dave Gilbert, classic cars, Cynthia Field, Owain Roach and Phil Aston, Paul Wakely, local stonemason, Steve, Pembrokeshire Woodturners, Pembroke Town Walls Heritage and Pembroke story displays, Shani Liz Wyman, harpist, Sid and his band and Pembrokeshire Falconry.
Raffle prizes were donated by Bluestone, Manor House Leisure Park, Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire Woodturners, Pembroke 21C CIC at Greenhill Farm and members of Pembroke Town Walls Trust.
Finally, thanks to a very vital team of marshalls, Elizabeth, Melissa, Alison, Angela, Natalie, Rebecca, Martin, Peter, John and Keith.
