WITH veterans Bob and Bernard back to boost Bude's confidence, the team looked rather strong with some new faces, writes Sam Latter.

There was a strong wind going into our faces and Liskeard used this to their favour and scored after a minute. However, Bude being the high spirited team they are getting famous for, stayed fighting hard and a trademark Colts maul left lofty lock James LaBroy to score a great try in the corner. Unfortunately Snell just pulled wide the tricky conversion leaving the score at 7-5.

Regrettably Bude looked like they had washed their hands in butter and dropped the ball leaving the Liskeard full back to stroll in a try.

With tension rising, two players 'scrapped' in front of the referee and Liskeard went down to 14 men. The scores remained 12-5 until half time.

A few tactical substitution changes left Bude kicking off and attacking hard. A superbly distributed kick by fly half Jonny (Mr Perfect) Stephens set up Snell to perform a textbook catch and run under the posts for an outstanding try which he converted himself to make the score 12-12 with 15 minutes remaining.

With Bude's confidence growing, wing Alan Holloway together with captain Mikey Beckley defended fearlessly and number 8 Paul Crocker picked up the ball and smashed through five tackles like a steam roller, making a good 20 metres. But as Bude have done so often this season, missed too many tackles and Liskeard scored a late but deserved try to finish off the match at 17-12.

Well played to both teams and the referee for making the match rewarding for spectators.
