PEOPLE from across North Cornwall gathered for a tea party to fundraise for the Tintagel and Camelford mini bus appeal. More than 50 people from Boscastle, Port Issac, Tintagel, Delabole, Camelford, Wadebridge and Bodmin joined for the afternoon tea party at St Mary's Hall, Bodmin. Guests were entertained with a cookery demonstration by Oakhouse foods, followed by afternoon tea and a drama performance by amateur actor Phillippa Hodge. Oakhouse foods and Age UK Cornwall sponsored the event, enabling all money raised to go directly to the appeal. A team of Age UK Cornwall volunteers prepared and served tea. The event was deemed a 'great success', raising £256. A spokesperson for Age UK said: "Social isolation is a growing problem among older people, particularly in rural areas such as North Cornwall. To have transport to be able to go out and meet with other people is vital for the health and wellbeing of older people. "Volunteers to enable events like this to happen in the future are urgently required, so if people can spare an hour or two on a monthly basis please contact Age UK Cornwall 01872 266388."
