THE landlords of Launceston Retail Park are looking into potentially extending the free parking time limit to four hours.

It is currently three hours, and with the addition of new shops at the site, people have taken to social media to say they have received fines from ParkingEye. Some were not aware of the time limit and others have been caught out by number plate recognition cameras when they have visited the retail park more than once in the same day, with cameras recording these as one long visit.

A spokesperson for LondonMetric, landlords of the site, last week told the Post ‘it has never been our intention to penalise genuine customers, and we are keen to ensure all our visitors enjoy a safe and pleasant shopping experience’.

It said it would review the policy of ‘return visits’ within a specific time period, and also the waiting limit itself.

Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor for Launceston South, Jade Farrington, last week met with Rupert Ward and Shaun Doyle from Savills, who manage the retail park on behalf of LondonMetric.

She said: “They were very positive and keen to help.

“They are going to propose that the three hour time limit is extended to four hours. Assuming this is approved, the signage will be changed and more signs will be put up so people don’t get caught out by not being aware of the time limit.

“If you have received an unfair fine from ParkingEye because you’ve accidentally over-stayed the time limit or you’ve visited the retail park twice in one day and the cameras have erroneously recorded this as one long visit then please message me with your name, email address, PCN number and the full circumstances and I will pass this on to Savills so your fine can be cancelled.”
