‘PARKING outside the cattle market in Holsworthy is becoming a bit of an issue’, one councillor told the full council meeting on Wednesday, October 4.

Cllr Joanne Heaven spoke to council members and PFCSO Mark James, who was in attendance on behalf of the neighbourhood police team.

She said: “There are cars parking either side of the road just past the Biogas plant outside the cattle market on market day. I was on my way into town and was very lucky I only have a small car because I had to squeeze through these cars. Is there anything the police can do?”

In response PFCSO James said: “If someone can’t get through because other vehicles are creating an obstruction then they need to call us, but it needs to be at the time so we can get down there and take a look for ourselves.”

Cllr Heaven said that in the past the use of cones on that stretch of road had proven effective in deterring people from parking on the grass verges.

PFCSO James said: “Yes cones do work in deterring people from parking there but they shouldn’t be needed. I will look into this matter but if anyone does come across the problem do encourage them to contact us so we can deal with it.”

If cars are creating an obstruction on the highway contact the police on the non emergency 101 line.
