LEWANNICK Parish Council was pleased to receive a further cheque for £7,858 from Mr Ian Scott, the owner of Blackaton wind turbine.
Pictured above are Michael White, vice chair of Lewannick Parish Council and wind turbine committee member; Mr Scott presenting a cheque to Paul Atkinson, chair of Lewannick Parish Council and wind turbine committee member together with Joy White and Stewart Quick — members of the wind turbine grant funding committee.
The next round of allocations and awards for grant funding will be distributed shortly — date to be announced.
Any organisations within the parish are most welcome to apply. Applications for grant funding are available on the parish council’s website — http://lewannickparishcouncil.co.uk
Grant funding is much appreciated by a number of groups within the parish.
Last year the Lewannick Village Hall, Polyphant and Lewannick Churches together with the Pre School for Lewannick benefited from the wind turbine funding.
Monies from the fund are for specific items of expenditure and are awarded to the groups to add value to their organisation.
The wind turbine, in a typical year of operation, produces clean electricity equivalent to that used annually by around 470 average homes (according to the average domestic electricity consumption per UK household as calculated/stated by the Department of Energy and Climate Change — DECC).
This is similar to the number of addresses registered in Lewannick, Polyphant and Trevadlock.
