Following their recent Ofsted inspection, staff, children and parents at Happy Days Nursery, Jacobstow, are celebrating having achieved the highest possible grade from Ofsted — Outstanding. The 24-place nursery set in the grounds of Jacobstow Primary School provides day care all year round to children from three months to five years as well as offering after school club facilities. During his inspection Mr Anthony commented: "As a result of outstanding drive and ambition, leaders and staff have established a very well-organised and secure setting which offers an outstanding service to the children and their parents and carers." In his report the inspector stated: 'This is an outstanding nursery which provides excellent care for the children. It is very well-equipped, clean and provides a detailed and well-planned curriculum. The wide range of activities makes learning fun and is enhanced by imaginative use of the outside area.' He went on to say: 'Excellent supervision ensures that the children's welfare and safety are their primary concern. The children's relationships with each other, and with the staff, are very good. They play safely and sensibly, which leads to excellent behaviour and development of social skills through which the children build a strong sense of community.' Manager of the nursery, Becky Johns, commented: "I am overjoyed by the result which was entirely a team effort. The staff are extremely supportive and committed to providing the best possible care for all the children and we are continuously looking for ways we can further develop and improve the quality of what we do." Sarah Karkeek, director at Happy Days Nurseries said: "We are extremely proud of the Jacobstow team. Their nursery provides the best possible start for the children in their care. The local community must be delighted to have such a wonderful facility in their midst."
