THE organiser of the Camelford Branch of the Royal British Legion Women's Section's (RBLWS) Poppy Appeal has retired after 13 years in the position.

Margaret Shillaber took on the role in 1998, though before that she assisted Barbara Knight and Penny Burnett with the campaign.

The RBLWS has run the Poppy Appeal for 65 years in total, and stepping into Margaret's shoes now is Mr Vaughan Williams.

She said: "I could not have done this role if I did not have the support of the RBLWS and all the collectors who have been so loyal over the years, and I am sure they will be to Vaughan.

"The Remembrance Sunday works so well because of the parade marshal Mr David Goodman and David Moore, who reads the roll of honour, and David Jasper, who has played the 'Last Post' for Camelford for over 40 years."
