Restrictions begin to ease today as part of the ‘roadmap’ out of the coronavirus lockdown.
Rules on meeting with friends and family, sporting activities, travel and weddings will change.
From today, the “stay at home” rule will be lifted, but the Government says people should still work at home where possible, and minimise the number of journeys made.
People will be allowed to meet with friends and family outdoors (including private gardens) in groups of up to six, or a bigger number from two households. Social distancing should be maintained for people not in the same household. Parent and child groups can meet outdoors in groups of up to 15 parents.
Outdoor sports facilities like tennis courts can reopen, and people can participate in formally organised sports outside, in groups larger than six. Where sport is not formally organised, it can only take place within the rules on social contact – in groups of up to six people, or two households.
Weddings will no longer be limited to exceptional circumstances only, but the rule of six will still apply to guests.
The guidance for funerals will stay the same, with up to 30 guests allowed.
