OUT in bloom for the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the Launceston Floral Art Group lay out bouquets of flowers in Launceston Town Square for the public to take home.
As a way of celebrating the Queens 90th Birthday the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) asked club members across the country to place an arrangement thoughtfully in their local area with the message ‘Take me home and Enjoy’.
Following on from the success of last year’s National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) event they hoped more clubs would join in this year.
Nine areas in Devon and Cornwall, including Launceston, were asked to put out special bouquets in prominent places or well known places, and the Launceston Floral Art Group ‘set up camp’ on the benches around the war memorial in the town square.
These flowers are given by any individual member of the club for anyone to pick up, take home and enjoy — hopefully with the added bonus of putting a smile on someone’s face.
Anyone can be a member of NAFAS. Anyone who enjoys flowers and meeting likeminded people are welcome to attend one of the group’s meetings.
The Launceston Floral Art Group meet on the first Tuesday of the month at St Mary’s Church. To find out more about the group visit their Facebook page.
