CAMELFORD Town Council considered nominations for the title of Honorary Citizen of Camelford at their April 21 meeting.
The Mayor of Camelford, Cllr Brian Lush said: "I think it would be nice seeing that we're celebrating 750 years of the Charter if certain people working hard for the town had some recognition."
Although he said he felt the nominations would be best discussed in committee, Cllr Philip Lessels said the council should also ask local organisations for their nominations.
Cllr Lush said it would be the council's privilege to bestow the honour, but Cllr Lessels said there were many people from organisations who work very hard, and do not receive any recognition. He proposed that the council nominate who they would like to receive the Honorary Citizen of Camelford award, but they should also ask other groups to make their nominations.
Cllr Bob Ireland noted that in the end, the council would make the final decision.
Councillors voted in favour of the proposal.
