AN organic farm near Callington is to be featured in a brand new documentary on More 4, exploring farming in Cornwall and Devon.
Brockley Farm, run by Stephen Keighley at Lower Metherell, is an organic, eco-friendly focused business, having taken its range of local, organic produce to Market House Arcade in Launceston on numerous occasions. Stephen started the business in April 2018, which was born out of an idea to grow and provide local people with fresh, local, seasonal fruit and vegetables, grown using organic methods. He also sells free range duck eggs as he keeps Indian runner ducks on his land. Stephen has described his venture as ‘a phenomenal success so far’.
He said: “Since then I have increased my growing area from half an acre to two acres and have in the last week, taken on another three huge polytunnels at Tregillis Farm, South Petherwin, as part of the business expansion. These are in partnership with the Perador Trust, who I am leasing from and will be providing them with fruit and vegetables as well as my own customers.”
Stephen was surprised to have been contacted by a team of producers from More 4 in June, 2018, who had heard about Brockley Farm and its lifestyle through Tamar Grow Local. Stephen continued: “There were a series of phone and Skype interviews to go through and I was totally shocked when they rang to say they wanted to film me at work through the summer.
“Although I’m personally very proud of my achievements, I never expected that my story would be of interest to a film company and national television. The filming began in June and continued through til October following my day-to-day working life and all aspects of me working in the beautiful Cornish countryside.”
The More 4 series, called Devon and Cornwall, is due to be aired on April 1 at 9pm, with the episode featuring Stephen and Brockley Farm being aired on April 29, at 9pm.
