THIRTY members, ladies and men, turned up on a glorious April afternoon for the Opening Day of Camelford & District Bowling Club on Saturday.
The event is the usual preamble to the new campaign. Club president, Colin Parsons, welcomed those present and worked out the teams for three rinks of fours and a triple rink.
He also thanked greenkeeper, Bob Staple, for his dedicated work in getting the green to such a fine standard, despite the cold weather of late not being conducive to good grass growing weather.
He also extended thanks to Colin Jasper and Francis Bennett for their work to the surroundings and clubhouse and to others who had spent time in preparing for the new season.
After ten ends the members enjoyed a tea, food provided by those present. A raffle was held for club funds after which the teams again took to the green to complete the usual 21 ends, the afternoon's enjoyment finishing about 6pm, the weather still very fine.
Colin wished everyone present a successful season and said that they should do their best in league matches but overall to enjoy themselves.
