THE Bridge Mill in Bridgerule opened its doors to the public on Sunday, week as part of National Mills Weekend. The water mill lay silent for 60 years until it was restored to working order by owners Alan and Rosie Beat in 2012. Visitors saw the millstones turning by waterpower to grind organic wheat into wholemeal flour, and could explore all three floors of the building to see each stage of the process at close quarters. A plant sale, prize draw, bookstall and light refreshments were organised by members of Bude Choral Society, who were raising money for their up and coming concerts. Local crafts on offer included pottery, paintings and greenwood chairs. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
