The fifth South Petherwin Garden Trail for the Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal was held recently. Though many places had rain, South Petherwin was blessed with fine weather for the event and visitors were able to enjoy the twelve gardens and one allotment throughout the afternoon. A photo exhibition and competition was also held in the Chapel Hall. Exhibitors were Darren Hart, Alan Purton, Adrian Davey and the village wildlife group. There were several categories in the competition, and the overall winner, judged by Alan Purton, was Penny Bailey. She was awarded a cup by Derek Pitman, who managed the contest. Over £750 was raised for the appeal.
