PEOPLE of all ages went along to see the recently renovated Launceston home of the late poet Charles Causley.
Cyprus Well, a small cottage perched on the side of Ridgegrove Hill, was the house Causley had lived in for more than 50 years. He died in 2003, aged 86.
It was said that Causley's ambition was for his home to be used as a temporary abode for artists and poets.
The Charles Causley Trust purchased the property and there was need for renovation.
The Post previously reported that funding was received from Cornwall Council and from Arts Council England and there was also financial backing from Launceston Town Council and Literature Works, the literature development agency for the South West.
The house was in need of significant structural repairs and renovation throughout — the external walls were coming away, leaving a gap of several centimetres between the skirting board and the edge of the floor in places.
There were also damp problems throughout and modernisation was required — and the completion of the work last summer meant the house benefits from central heating for the first time in its history.
