DUE to a great demand for allotments at its existing sites at Dutson and Kensey (with waiting lists for plots at both sites), Launceston Town Council has recently created 26 new allotments on land it owns at Grammers Park — as reported in last week's 'Post.'

The new allotments are on the former grass playing field at Grammers Park, and are therefore on new, unworked ground.

Although take-up of the new allotments has been good, there are still two available, and anyone who lives within the Launceston town area is eligible to apply for one. Preparation of the ground will be the responsibility of the allotment tenant —the plot will not be ploughed nor have the turf removed.

The annual charge for each Allotment is £25. The Council is currently investigating the possibility of connecting a water supply to the allotments, and if this goes ahead, there will be an additional charge of £10 per plot.

If you are interested in having one of the allotments, please telephone or email the Town Council as soon as possible as they will be allocated on a "first come first served" basis. The telephone number is 01566 773693, and the email address is [email protected]">[email protected]. This only applies to the allotments at Grammers Park, the council's other two sites being fully occupied and having people on a waiting list.
