WHAT an exciting day last Saturday when 26 Launceston Swim Club members attended the Bodmin Open Meet at the Dragon Centre, competing in individual races against representatives from 14 other clubs, writes Maxine Kane.

Medals were awarded to the first six in each age group in all five disciplines: Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Individual Medley. Many medals were gained by the club as well as some good personal best times.

There was a wonderful surprise when Olympic Bronze medallist, Cassie Patten made a victory tour around the pool to overwhelming applause. She also stayed to spend time autographing swimwear and accessories, and to encourage the swimmers.

Our appreciation goes to dedicated coach John Rhodes, who was assisted pool side by team managers Wendy Rivers, Sue Glossop and Peter Kane.
