CINDERFORD District Nurses finished on top for the second year running at an awards ceremony which recognises the invaluable work carers deliver across the county.

The ladies, who are based at the Cinderford Health Centre, on Dockham Road, were applauded in the Value award for Caring category as part of the Gloucestershire Care Services Celebrating You Awards 2015.

Last year they scooped the Value award for Responsible.

Team leader Chris Teague nominated the nurses for the category, and said: "I'm not ruling out entering us into another category next year. My team are an amazing bunch of nursing professionals who epitomises the trust's vision.

"Every patient is put at the centre of everything they do and people need to know how brilliant these girls are – that's why these awards ceremonies are so special."

Nurse Stef Dobbs said: "We want to say a huge thank you to Chris for nominating us. We couldn't do what we do without her – she is the captain of our ship."

Nurse Amanda Brookes added: "You're team can only be as good as its leader."

The nurses' care for those aged under 18 who are at the end of their life.

The ceremony, which was one of three held across the county last Thursday, saw many people present at Foxes Bridge.

Among the winner of this year's Value Award for Responsible was Sarah M Jones, of Lydney, who is part of the flu peer vaccine team across the county.

In total 168 nominations were entered with nine categories and four people shortlisted in each.
