NOT a good week for Stratton league teams, writes Dave Clark.
At Dunheved our 'C' team were beaten by their 'B team 46-65 for only 1 point: B Bowyer, M Johnson, D Mountjoy, A Snowden 11-30; T Powley, E Worth, G Plumstead, E Harris 18-14; D Saunders, J Wonnacott, N Wheaton, G Clark 17-21.
Our 'A' team entertained Wadebridge 'A' and I felt that our whole team were confident having beaten them on their own green earlier in the season. Wadebridge came out and took the game by the scruff of the neck and never looked like losing.Well done to them. The result was 43-77 and no points for us: T Darvill, G Croud, B Davy, K Loadman 18-24; L Nagy, J Cottle, J Gill, D Clark 10-24; G Gunby, J Connell, G Walter, G Maynard 15-28.
Our Ladies have gone all shy this week. I have results, but no names.
In the Rippon Cup against Callington we won 2 points to 0.
In the Date Cup against Camelford we lost 1 point to 3, against Liskeard we lost 0 points to 4, against Kensey Vale we lost 1 point to 3.
In the Stamford League against Holsworthy we lost 0 points to 5.
In the Top Team against Bude we lost 0 points to 5.
The only ladies not to shy to be named are S Parker, B Gunby and J Scott who played for Cornwall against Somerset at Street and Joy Scott was awarded her County badge, congratulations from us all
In the Mews 4s competition our team of John Gill, David Hooker, John Connell and Gerald Maynard won the North Cornwall part of the competition but failed by only 2 shots against very tough opposition to progress any further. Well done.
I'm very sorry to hear that Barbara Piper and Ted Furminger are in hospital. All our good wishes for a speedy recovery.
