NORTH Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson visited Delabole recently to see how construction of the areas new wind turbines is progressing.
Good Energy, the UK's leading 100 per cent renewable energy supplier, is currently welcoming the new turbines at its Delabole wind farm, which will be planted one-by-one over the following weeks.
The North Cornwall site was the UK's first commercial wind farm and this development is the next major phase in taking the UK into its second generation of onshore wind power; the 10 old turbines having been successfully decommissioned during previous weeks.
At double the height and producing more than two and half times the output of their predecessors, the four new turbines are larger and more powerful than the old turbines, which will continue to be used to produce clean, renewable electricity elsewhere in Europe.
Juliet Davenport, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Good Energy, said: "Delabole wind farm is a fantastic example of homegrown energy. We are excited to be taking Delabole into its second generation of onshore wind power. The increased capacity of the new turbines serves to illustrate how successful innovation in this field has been over the last two decades. With projects such as this, the UK moves ever closer to a 100 per cent renewable future."
A spokesperson for Good Energy added:?"Good Energy believes that homegrown electricity produced from a network of independent renewable generators throughout the UK is better for our future energy security as well as helping to cut our carbon emissions.
"The repowering of Delabole is Good Energy's first wind farm development project, and will be followed by a pipeline of planned wind farm developments."
