RESIDENTS in North Cornwall are being urged to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste this Christmas. Verity Palk, Waste Minimisation Manager for NCDC said: "Christmas is a brilliant time to raise awareness of recycling. Cards, paper, packaging, bottles, and Christmas trees themselves can all be recycled very easily. It is frightening to think that in Britain this Christmas we are likely to dump more than three million tonnes of rubbish in the ground when more than half of it could be recycled!" North Cornwall's collection crews notice a massive increase in the number of glass jars and bottles put out in the rubbish over Christmas — almost a quarter more than normal. All these items can be easily recycled with the council's convenient fortnightly kerbside collections or taken to local recycling banks.
