THE cream of Cornwall will be attending this year’s North Cornwall Book Festival, held in St Endellion from October 21 to 23, as it prepares to celebrate Cornish writers and artists.

As well as hosting writers from across the country, the book festival will be highlighting the rich talent and fascinating range of writing styles in many different genres that come out of Cornwall.

The festival will see the introduction of ‘Cream of Cornish’, which aims to give a platform to local writers to talk about and read their work.

Writers who will appear at this years festival include: comic poet and singer Rob Barrett; poet Katrina Naomi; historian Martin Banks, who will bring his history of the 1966 Cornish sea tragedy The Mysterious loss of the Dalwyne; Anneliese Mackintosh, reading her prize winning, decidedly adult, story collection Any Other Mouth.

For those who want to get creative, Tom Vowler will also be running a very special workshop on short-story writing.

There are also plenty of activities on offer to occupy children during this half-term event. Sally Crabtree, an internationally known children’s writer, singer, performer and above all else, a poetic creator, will be in attendance.

There will also be exhibitions, a bookstall and a bar and café available to enjoy between sessions — this festival really does cater for everyone.

Tickets for Cream of Cornish are free. Most other sessions are £6. For more information, visit the website www.ncornbookfest.org
