THERE is still time to nominate a young person you think deserves a CATS (Community Action Through Sport) award.
There has already been talk of the great things young people have been doing in Bude, Holsworthy and the surrounding villages, including at Kilkhampton, where the youth group have arranged a litter clear up in the village and the school.
Several of the older players (aged 16-20) at Bude Rugby Club have been giving their time voluntarily to help coach some of the younger squads.
The impact has been fantastic seeing young people work with adult coaches, and CATS are working with the RFU to ensure that these young people are rewarded for their positive community action.
At the end of the summer last year, Bude hosted 60 young people from London inner cities to be rewarded with a surf weekend for their positive community action in the capital. To ensure that things ran smoothly, six volunteer students from Budehaven school (aged 14-17) helped prepare the whole event and assisted in running it over a very busy weekend.
As a result of the success of the weekend, London Youth have applied for funding to bring more positive young people to Bude for surfing weekends. The boys and girls that helped make the weekend a success worked extremely hard and were very professional, and built strong foundations for a new and exciting relationship with CATS, London Youth and 2012!
CATS is now looking for nominations for the next awards ceremony, which will be held in Bude next month.
