ACCESS, drainage and water were the three main issues concerning a planning application to construct a two-storey, three-bedroom detached property at Higher Cross Lane in Camelford.

The application, PA18/02190, was discussed at the most recent meeting of Camelford Town Council on Tuesday, April 17, where concerns were raised by Cllr Andy Shaw.

He said that for three cars, the access would be an issue due to being located ‘right on the road’. He also said the drainage system could become problematic and had not been highlighted well in the plans. “This is more of a technical decision,” he told the meeting, adding that the plans had been ‘very poorly presented’.

Cllr Shirley Goodman reiterated Cllr Shaw’s point on access. She said: “There’s quite a big garden behind. I can’t say it’s going to look wonderful. The access is going onto a very narrow road — and it is very narrow around there.”

Cllr Shaw also said that readers of the plans would be unable to see the ‘true size of the building’, adding concern.

The council decided to object on access, water and drainage system grounds.

The final decision is expected to be made by Cornwall Council Planning Committee.
