COULD someone please inform me as to how my family can safely cross St Thomas Road? From the Town Hall to the White Horse there is no safe crossing point.
Living near Priory Park there are numerous other families who are keen to use the play facilities and field. Unfortunately it is impossible to cross to get into Tredydan Road or Wooda without risking your life in the fast moving traffic as it comes racing down St Thomas Road. My wife, on numerous occasions, has had to wait up to 15 minutes whilst pushing a push chair in order to cross the road to get up into town to go shopping.
Shouldn't we be encouraging people to walk into Launceston? Or maybe it's another way in which the local council is encouraging people to visit the out of town shopping centres at Tesco and Dutson instead of the lovely town centre with its beautiful castle.
It seems that, combined with the ridiculous parking charges in the town centre (why aren't they free for the first two hours as in Camelford?) and the lack of footpaths and crossing points in the town, we are heading the same way as many other towns in the UK and sleepwalking towards a ghost town centre full of charity shops and estate agents.
Launceston.
