THERE are currently ’no plans’ to close Launceston’s nightclub, the Post has been told.

A planning application has been submitted to Cornwall Council for change of use of Storm nightclub at Pennygillam Industrial Estate.

It seeks permission to split it into two industrial units for B1 and B8 with trade counter use.

The agent for the application, Simon Powell, said the idea behind the planning application is ‘shrinking it down slightly’, adding: “At this moment there are no plans to close the nightclub.”

Class B1 is ‘business’, whereas class B8 applies to properties that are used ‘for storage or as a distribution centre’.

The application is due to be discussed by Launceston Town Council at its planning and economic development committee’s meeting tomorrow (Thursday).
