Musicians and visitors from across the area took part in the ninth Bude and Stratton Folk Festival — deemed the 'best yet' by organisers.

The three-day showcase of finest folk music, organised by Bude Folk Club, attracted a record attendance.

Co-ordinator Mike O'Connor said the festival was 'the best it has ever been'.

"It was fantastic, it was the best it's ever been. Season ticket sales were around the same, but the number of people who dropped in over the weekend was higher."

This year's guests included Jim Causley, Jackie Oates, Lynne Heraud and Pat Turner, Liam Robinson, Geoff Lakeman, Andrew McKay and Carole Etherton, Pam 'n' Al Capella, Thorn & Roses, Hamish Currie, Martyn Babb, Jon Heslop, Peter Collins, Roger Bryant, Moe Keast, Vaughan Hully, Martin Jardine and Ken Hobbs.

Performances were hosted at the Falcon Hotel, Bude Rugby Club and Tree Inn, Stratton.

There were children's dance workhops with Liam Robinson who worked with Bude Junior School, story telling, open mic sessions, singing lessons and the ultimate, Cream of Cornwall and Devon concert which was 'absolutely heaving'.
