THE chief executive officer of the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will be invited to attend a meeting in Launceston.
Mayor, Cllr Brian Hogan, said Phil Confue has been invited to a future town council’s meeting. The Post has previously reported that Mr Confue recently visited Launceston Hospital, telling staff there are ‘no plans’ to close the hospital.
The town clerk, Christopher Drake, told the Post that he would be advising the council that Mr Confue is invited to the town council meeting in June.
At the April 18 town council meeting, St Stephens by Launceston Rural parish councillor, Joan Heaton, asked the council to hold a public meeting about Launceston Hospital. The council agreed in February to invite members of the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to a public meeting.
Cllr Hogan said: “We have had emails with reassurances that Launceston Hospital isn’t under threat. I suggest we listen to what the gentleman’s got to say and get as much information as possible.”
Cllr Rob Tremain said: “It’s nice to know he will be attending and after that meeting we will be in a better position regarding the public meeting we have promised to hold.”
