On a freezing cold New Year's Day morning a group of Delabole residents held a sponsored fancy dress swim at Port Gaverne to raise money for local clubs. This was the first time in ten years that a New Year's Day dip had taken place. The event was in aid of Delabole Football Club, Cricket Club and Pavilion. The ten brave swimmers managed to spend around five minutes in the icy water. After the event they made their way back to the Workman's Club in Delabole for some well earned hot soup, rolls and karaoke in the afternoon.
