A PIONEERING Swim Safe initiative to increase sea awareness amongst children was launched in Bude last week.

The scheme, which is being run by the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) and the RNLI, is the first of its kind in the UK, offering children free water tuition sessions.

Over the last year there have been a number of incidents when children have got into difficulty while in the sea.
