AT THE end of a day's trading at the March 16 pannier market, a group of traders and stallholders, the majority from outside Holsworthy, met in the King's Arms to discuss the redevelopment of the present livestock market site and the creation of the agri-business centre on the edge of the town.

Ian Parker took the chair and the Mayor of Holsworthy, Cllr Richard Brown was also present. Their overriding concern was that a supermarket such as Tesco might come to the current market site with what they believed would be disastrous consequences for the shopkeepers and market traders in the town.
