MEMBERS of Torridge District Council have formally adopted the council’s new strategic plan 2016-2020.
The decision was made at the full council meeting held on Monday, August 1. The plan was developed at the end of 2015.
During the early months of 2016, meetings invited the input of councillors and senior officers, with members of the public also invited to participate through a consultation process.
The plan sets out what the council will strive to achieve, together with its partners, local businesses, communities and residents, over the next four years.
The preparation process was designed to allow everyone to have their say on what these priorities should be, and will guide and focus business plans and performance monitoring over the coming years.
One of the key goals under the plan is dedicated to delivering effective customer focused services, but the plan also seeks to broaden the scope of activities to three other goals. These include working to deliver a prosperous economy, strong safe healthy communities, and protecting the environment.
Councillors have also looked to balance the needs of both the rural and urban communities.
