CAMELFORD PCSO Terry Groves and local mum Louise Smith have decided to set up a youth club in Delabole.
The thinking behind it is that currently there seems very little in the village for young people to do, and they deserve to have something dedicated to them. The youth club will be somewhere warm and safe that they can go. Somewhere they can meet with friends, chat, listen to music and play games etc.
PCSO Groves said: "Funding has been provided and at the request of the children, we aim to be providing them with TVs, games consoles, iPod docking stations, a pool table and possibly even trips/days out. So far, the funding has been offered by Delabole Slate Quarry, Atlantic Signs, Delabole Community Shop, the parish council and Good Energy, and sincere thanks go to all of them for their kind donations.
"If anyone else would like to make a donation, it would be gratefully received. What the youth club now needs are responsible adult volunteers! Without this support, the youth club will not be able to succeed.
"The response shown by the children in Delabole at the recent meet and greet evening was really encouraging, and it would be a shame not to offer them this facility on a permanent basis."
