CAMELFORD’S Beth Kitto has been named as the new secretary of the Camelford Agricultural Show.
The 29-year-old, who is married and has an 18-month-old daughter, replaces Victoria Wells, who stepped down in October.
Beth, who was brought up in Advent and attended Sir James Smith’s Community School, now lives in Camelford and is delighted to have taken up the role ahead of the 112th show, which takes place on Wednesday, August 8.
She said: “I saw the advert on the Facebook page. I’ve been going to the show since I was little and my parents are on the committee. I wanted to help the show and get involved.
“I took over in January and it’s pretty full on at the moment, I probably spend two or three evenings a week doing it as there’s so much work. We were without a secretary since October so I’ve had three months of work to catch up on. It’ll only get busier from here as we get nearer, but I’m really enjoying it at the moment and plan on it being a long-term thing. It only takes up a few hours a week and it’s a good hobby.”
The show is moving from Halwill Barton near Camelford to Trevilla in Marshgate, and Beth is looking to keep things simple for now.
She said: “It’ll be a pretty similar set up to last year. At the moment we’re concentrating on keeping it familiar because of last year’s weather. There’ll be no drastic changes.”
Beth is keen to hear from anyone with any questions and can be contacted at [email protected]
