THE Bude Royal Naval Association (RNA) is to receive a new Rum Tub, following the discovery of it by a cleaner in Bermuda.

Social secretary, John ‘Tanky’ Williams, was recently visited by friends from Bermuda, and there happened to be a connection between them and a cleaner, who looks after the holiday chalets and apartments in Bermuda that belong to the previous Prime Minister of Italy.

Having been asked by her boss to clean out the garage, she noticed a full-size Rum Tub, which would have originated from a naval ship.

Following her discovery, the Rum Tub was offered to the cleaner for free. Upon Mr Williams’ friends’ return to Bermuda, they are due to send the Rum Tub to Bude, where the RNA will then have possession of it.

The RNA already has a smaller version that is regularly put to use. However, the club is very pleased to be able to receive the Rum Tub, and it will be known as the ‘Big Daddy Rum Tub’ to accompany the smaller one.
