A NEW round of voting is underway at local supermarket branches, which will see groups and projects awarded grants from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.

Grants of up to £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 are up for grabs — shoppers are able to vote for their preferred organisation or project using a token after paying for their goods.

In the Launceston branch, shoppers can vote for North Hill Parish Council, which wants to replenish play area equipment, St Catherine’s C of E School, to develop its outdoor learning zone, or Egloskerry Parish Council, to replace play equipment in the park.

At the Callington store, the choices are Callington Bowling Club for enhancement of club facilities, the Callington Musuem Trust for purchase of a large screen TV, or Saltash Town Band, which needs funds for a brass baritone horn. Voting is open until the end of August.

The results from the May/June voting are, for Launceston: 1st, Egloskerry School — £5,000; 2nd, HFT Tregadillett (Chy Keres) — £2,000; 3rd, Treetops Holiday Club, Bridestowe — £1,000.

The results for Callington: Liskeard Hillfort Primary School received 27,554 votes and will receive £4,956; Deviock Parish Council received 16,632 votes and will receive £2,000; Groundwork South Trust Ltd received 16,415 votes and will receive £1,000.
